FinCEN announces enforcement action against virtual asset service provider Bittrex

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has assessed a civil money penalty of more than $29 million against Bittrex for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act and FinCEN regulations. An investigation discovered that Bittrex failed to maintain an effective anti-money laundering program during a period between 2014 and 2018.
