Financial Empowerment Month: Preventing scams and fraud targeting older adults
The New Hampshire Banking Department is teaming with other agencies and organizations during Financial Empowerment Month to help consumers improve their financial understanding and literacy, which includes being informed about scams and fraud. Older adults are often the target of scams.
- The New Hampshire Department of Justice's Elder Abuse and Financial Exploitation Unit has numerous resources available here, including contact information if you or a loved one has been the victim of a scam or fraud.
- The New Hampshire AARP Fraud Watch Network has information on current known scams as well as support and fraud prevention services.
- The Federal Trade Commission provides training, education and outreach available here.
